Fractal Art - Tutorial Testing Week 4 - Week of 2/2/10

This time I used this tutorial: http://guagapunyaimel.deviantart.com/art/cpow-ring2-tutorial-192002748

easy tutorial plugins needed are available through a link found on the tutorial page.

I made a couple I like the first one better myself. First fractal done without a black background.

Fractal Art - Tutorial Testing Week #4 Week of 1/26/11

This one was fairly easy and I produced a few different examples though only one is shown here at this time mostly because of longer render times are causing me to be slow to get a lot of rendering done as my laptop has been needed for other purposes when I'm awake.

This is the only one I have fully rendered, background added, and edited. The tutorial is:
Apophysis Foci Tutorial by juggalo5

You'll need apophysis 7x latest version which on my system is an installed program - that is i find it in the start menu. Other versions of apo you don't necessarily get it installed just find the app in the folder it came in/you saved it in each time you use it.

Of all the ones I've done so far it allowed for the most fun and play without a lot of really knowing the program inside & out.

Here's the original I created with the tutorial with the previous photo being one of my own tweakings of the the tutorial.

:)
Enjoy.

Fractal Art - Tutorial Testing Week 3 - week of 1/19/11

Since the tutorial I've chosen for week three is a 14 page tutorial unlike the previous 1/2 page ones I figured I should start early. So maybe its cheating but with everything going on in the family it is possible I'll be too busy with other things to fully devote all of week 3 to finishing this one tutorial so I figured it would be in my best interest to start working on it now.

This tutorial again is one I found on deviant art through the #apophysis group.
If you're playing along you'll need a different version of apophysis than was used for the last tutorial. This time apo 7x (simply means it was designed to be compatible with Windows 7 users but works on all systems as far as I know - it works on Vista for sure as that's what I have)
Apo 7x.14 - is the direct download link - some users may find this installs an actual program on your system others may not - it depends on your OS I think.
I'm using Apo7x 2010 (not sure what the difference is) but we'll see if mine works - it should given that the tutorial was written about the time I got my copy. Again the program is 100% free:)

So the tutorial I'm following: apochess_tutorial_by_terranceman-d2yk4zb.rar - if you follow along/complete/or do this tutorial in anyway please stop by the author's site on dA and give him a thank you.
The post for the tutorial is found here: Terranceman @ DeviantArt

I'd done the tutorial through creating the chess pieces (pawns) twice and never could get the bottom part of the pieces to look right (ie look like they do in the tutorial).

Finally after a lot of trying last night I finally had success:

So while I did start this back on the 19th of January it has taken me until now to get it right.

Fractal Art - Tutorial Testing Week 2

First off let me give a big thanks to the tutorial I used created by cejohnson356 - which can be found here: Apophysis Mandala Tutorial by cejohnson356

From his tutorial I created the initial image as he instructs in the tutorial, but it seemed rather bland - now that I knew how to do so I worked on making the image my own.

Being very new to knowing enough to remember to save my own settings and write them down when I get a result I like, and not at all familiar with tutorial writing. This blog will be just about my result - rather than my tutorial as I kind of wanted to do but am not sure how many of you are familiar enough with things to be willing to try it with just me typing in the #s i used and saying have at it.

So without further adieu here's my result.

As always if you want this as a print or wallpaper let me know - and I'll set up a listing on etsy for you!

-hop hop flip flip oh what a frog it is!
LOL yep I had too much sleep - obvious isn't it?

Fractal Art - Tutorial Testing Day 1

Per my resolution for new years - I plan to get better at doing a fractal tutorial at least once a week - and in the interest of sharing the world of fractals with others I'm going to blog my efforts - and share links to the programs, tutorials etc that I use.

Day 1: January 7th 2011 - Mandelbulb3d

The program in question is Mandelbulb3d - one I'd never heard of, let alone used prior to trying this tutorial. This program is sheer genius...and the tutorial I used is really easy to follow for anyone - even beginners.

First off I had to get the program - and you can too - FREE - here: Mandelbulb3d V 1.67
This is a direct link to the download - when you download, save it someplace easy to find - mine is something like C:\Owner\FractalTesting - pick an easy place to find it. The program doesn't install - its a zip file - you unzip it and then there's a program you open every time you want to use it. It comes pre-loaded with some params (parameter files). Each fractal program uses its own file extension so bear this in mind when downloading & saving things.

I save everything to its own folder based on the program I'm working in that day. I regularly use apophysis (it has its own folder for all its goodies), and now I have a folder for Mandelbulb3d - and its goodies.

Next if you want to do this tutorial just like I did - go here: Mandelbulb3d Tutorial 2 - by Haltenny on dA - if you use the tutorial - and are a registered DA member, please say thank you to the submitter, and subscribe if you wish.

My first try - was using the tutorial exactly - and here's the result: - the first photo is the full version - as rendered by the program. (It took 37 minutes to render on my system - if you have a slower computer it may take longer - render just before you go to bed or something...if you have a fast system - you know it won't take very long)

The 2nd image is a cropped & zoomed section from the middle right of the original...the 3rd is a cropped, zoomed & rotated image from the left edge of the original (this one also has some color adjustment).

TADA!! My first try at a new fractal type using a new program.

I did play one more time with the Spudsville parameters mentioned in the tutorial - but I made my own creation - different from the tutorial version. *MAKE SURE YOU SAVE your parameters regularly - undo in this program is a bit different from undo in most programs*...save each time you make a change - if you want - just in case- you can always delete the ones you don't want to save at a later time when you're done playing with that particular rendition.

Anway here's the 2nd image:
This one looks like yams underground to me - maybe its the coloring...I like the original better - I'll play more with this program as time goes on that's for sure.

and a cropped version of this new design:

Make sure you view the full version of each image - right click - view image - will get you a larger image to view the full details.

I think I'm going to play some more in this program and see what I get.

My resolution was to do 1 tutorial a week - so 52 new blogs from me - I may increase this and post more tutorial attempts and more tries on here or I may just post the trials to my fb photo album relating to this topic. If you do try something of your own - please share - even if its just a link to a post on deviant art in your comment on here:)

I look forward to drawing more of you into the addicting world of fractals.
